Shepard Fairey in Philadelphia

On April 23, Philadelphia received three new murals from California street artist Shepard Fairey, perhaps best known for his OBEY campaign and the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster. Fairey and his crew began mid-afternoon at the Rocket Cat Cafe in Fishtown and ended in South Philly on 6th and Reed streets. I caught up with them during their second installation on 26th St and Girard Ave. Here is a brief documentation of the installation.

4/22/10. Kevin McGuire Jr., 16, has been undergoing Leukemia treatment at CHOP for the last 3.5 years. This Saturday will be his last treatment, marking a return to his normal academic and athletic life at Sterling High School in Somerdale.
