Aaron McCargo is a lifelong resident of Camden and one of only two competitors left on the Food Network reality show “Next Food Network Star.”

Today I had to accompany a health inspector on a surprise inspection to a restaurant in Washington Township, NJ. As if the owner wasn’t freaked enough by the inspector, here I am with a camera ready to document the whole thing. She almost threw me out but I charmed my way in under the agreement that the restaurant would remain anonymous – which was fine because the story wasn’t about the restaurant anyway.

Matt Collins has earned some fame in his Marlton, NJ neighborhood for the tropical banana tree growing in his backyard. Collins ordered the tree online from Florida about five years ago when it was just a foot high; it’s almost as large as his two-level home today. Although the tree produces bananas, they are usually too small to ripen and eat.

I’ve been out of college and working as a photojournalist for about 5 weeks now. Here is a gallery of some of my assignments to show what I’ve been up to.

Obaid saw me coming and hopped out of his lunch truck to ask for a picture. At first, he was giving me the straight-faced, arms-crossed tough guy look. Eventually, I coerced him back in to his tin can confinement and as he began polishing the pseudo-chrome he became himself again…monkey cackle and all.
