I recently had the pleasure of freelancing for American Profile magazine’s cover story about great American sandwiches, which included Philadelphia’s own Pat’s King of Steaks. Follow the link above to see more photos and read the story.
Early this morning Nickolas Budzilo, 3, passed away due to severe burns sustained from a fire in his Port Richmond home yesterday. His grandfather and pregnant mother were able to escape with his 1-year-old brother, but were unable to reenter the home to retrieve Nickolas and his 5-year-old brother, Christopher. Firefighters rescued both boys and took them to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where Christopher is listed in stable condition. His mother and grandfather were taken to Temple Hospital and are also listed as in stable condition.
Early Wednesday morning a Northern Liberties waitress and aspiring model, Sabina Rose O’Donnell, 21, was found murdered outside her home on 4th St and Girard Ave. Over 100 mourners gathered last night around 9pm outside her home to pay tribute to their friend, who everyone agreed was always smiling and nice to everyone.
On April 23, Philadelphia received three new murals from California street artist Shepard Fairey, perhaps best known for his OBEY campaign and the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster. Fairey and his crew began mid-afternoon at the Rocket Cat Cafe in Fishtown and ended in South Philly on 6th and Reed streets. I caught up with them during their second installation on 26th St and Girard Ave. Here is a brief documentation of the installation.
Shepard Fairey poses for a portrait before installing the mural on the wall behind him.
Some outtakes from my Saturday morning photo shoot with Philly legend Mikey Wild in the Italian Market.
